Abstract Summary
The purpose of this project is to develop an video to provide evidence-based education about postpartum unwanted, intrusive thoughts, images and impulses and their relationship with mental health (specifically postpartum obsessive-compulsive disorder) and parenting. The video will target pregnant and postpartum women, their partners and family members, and perinatal care providers. Video content will include how common these thoughts are, how they are experienced, how they relate to mental health difficulties and recent findings that they do not represent a risk of harm to the infant. Video content and presentation will be developed collaboratively with all members of our study team. Our team includes experts in the area of postpartum harm thoughts and obsessive-compulsive disorder, patient partners and an expert in the area of video development. The video will be disseminated via our stakeholder collaborators including the BC Ministry of Health, the Reproductive Mental Health Program at BC Women's Hospital, the Canadian Perinatal Mental Health Collaborative, Anxiety Canada and the Canadian Psychological Association. Further dissemination to additional health authorities and regions within Canada and internationally will also be sought.
