Abstract Summary
CRISM is a national research-practice network focused on translational and implementation research targeting substance use and related harms. CRISM consists of five regional multidisciplinary Nodes located in British Columbia, the Prairie Provinces, Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic region (previously Quebec/Atlantic). In the first 6-year cycle, the Nodes have collaboratively built highly successful platforms and infrastructure for national and regional research activities, knowledge dissemination and meaningful engagement with people with lived and living experience (PWLLE) and other stakeholders. Simultaneously, each Node has conducted regional activities in response to their unique environments. This proposal is for renewal of the Quebec node. While this new regional configuration will allow for direct alignment with Quebec provincial stakeholder groups, we will pursue our close collaborations with the Atlantic node. Building on the strengths of our team, the node will be structured around five interconnected thematic areas: (1) Prevention; (2) Health, equity, and quality care; (3) Treatment innovation; (4) Indigenous ways of knowing and doing; and (5) Partnership, inclusion, and engagement. Broadly, our objectives are to inform and promote uptake of effective interventions across the themes within a rapid-learning system that engages stakeholders at all stages. Members bring content expertise in the prevention and treatment of substance use disorders and in the integrated approaches to drug related harms, including mental health and medical comorbidities. They bring their vast research experience spanning cohort, qualitative, implementation, implementation science studies and randomized controlled trials. Individuals with diverse identities and experiences, including women, early career researchers, Indigenous Peoples, PWLLE, members of LGBTQ2S+ communities and racialized minorities, are actively participating in the applicant and core operations teams.
