Abstract Summary

Impaired driving is a significant, persistent, yet preventable contributor to alcohol-related harm. Despite the importance of prevention to reduce impaired driving, research into evidence-based practices is underdeveloped. The goals of this study, accomplished in close partnership with knowledge users from both the Health and Transport/Traffic Safety milieu, are to: i) contribute to research into prevention of DWI recidivism; ii) develop a data acquisition and processing system; iii) build a collaborative process between the various stakeholders (researchers, decision makers, program administrators) to increase knowledge; and iv) train students to become the next generation of researchers or evidence-informed knowledge users in the DWI field.
