Abstract Summary
The proposed research will work with individuals with dementia and their care partners to create a person-centred approach for routinely collecting information about the quality of life of people with dementia living in long-term care homes. The quality of life information that is collected each day will be used to develop simple interventions that can be used in daily care routines to improve the moments individuals with dementia experience each day. The aim is to improve the overall quality of life for individuals with dementia in long-term care and demonstrate the possibility of implementing the approach in organizational procedures and larger-scale application in other long-term care facilities. This research project will make quality of life in long-term care homes more visible to others, show why it should be prioritized, and offer a practical way it can be improved.
