Abstract Summary
A major cause of diminished quality of life in older adults with cognitive impairment and dementia is declining language function, leading to communication difficulties. The present study will use behavioural and electrophysiological (electroencephalographic, EEG) measures to examine the extent to which semantic richness can support retrieval of semantic (word- based) knowledge in older adults with or without cognitive impairment. A lexical decision task will be use in cognitively healthy older adults, people with subjective cognitive decline (SCD) and mild cognitive impairment (MCI).
