Abstract Summary
We need to find the best possible ways to care for children and their families in pandemics such as COVID-19. This project will find out and share these ways, based on existing research. The project is very important for children with illness or disability, their families, and their health care providers. To achieve our goal, a review of the research, experts' opinions and family partners' views will tell us about ways to ensure the best care for children and their family in a pandemic. Our aims are: 1.To review existing information from research about care for ill children during a pandemic; 2.To invite experts to consider how to apply these ways of achieving the best care possible during pandemics; 3.To hold a face-to-face meeting or if needed, a virtual meeting among experts, patients and caregivers/parents to review the recommendations and guidelines from this project. This will allow us to understand how they feel about this information and can apply the recommendations and guidelines from this project to ensure good care for children and families in a pandemic; 4.To find ways for continued communication and learning among patients, families, health care providers, public health workers and researchers, so we can continue to improve care in pandemics; and 5.To have a plan for quickly and effectively informing everyone that needs to know about the results of this work.
